EMC plans to buy shares of VMware on the open market to maintain its 80 percent stake in the company, reports The Boston Globe. And VMware said it will buy back as much as $400 million worth of its own shares though the end of 2011.
Meanwhile, EMC's former CFO and a 20-year member of its board, W. Paul Fitzgerald, has stepped down, according to Mass High Tech. James S. DiStasio, a former executive with Ernst & Young, will replace him.
